If you happen to be visiting Malta during the Christmas season, we welcome you to our Mediterranean isles. Christmas in Malta is celebrated throughout the month of December and includes various traditional events – some more unconventional than others!

Last minute shopping
Despite knowing perfectly well on which day Christmas Day will fall this year, we’ve all been guilty of last-minute shopping sprees on Christmas Eve. We suggest dropping by Sliema or Valletta and picking up a gift, indulging in a Christmas speciality at one of the coffee shops, and enjoying the Christmas atmosphere around.

Christmas Cribs
The Nativity scene is amongst one of the most popular symbols for Christmas in Malta. The first ever crib recorded was found in Rabat in 1607. Although not entirely a Maltese tradition, these are found in most homes and public areas throughout the season. Dedicated exhibitions are also set up and open to the public in December.

Food, Glorious Food!
Cuisine is an important element of Maltese culture, and the Christmas season simply reinforces it. Traditionally Christmas eve, Christmas Day and New Years Day involve sumptuous meals amongst friends and families. Check out our Christmas Brochure here.

It’s always the right time to party
During the Christmas season, many establishments offer their employees annual leave, and it is no secret that the Maltese are always up for a party. Whether it’s a staff party, a gathering between old friends, or a girls’ night out there are always several events going on. Browse social media or speak to our Concierge.

Chill out and enjoy a beer
With so much going on during this festive season, it’s easy to understand how at times all we want to do is lie back and relax for a while. Despite being winter, the weather is mostly favourable in Malta on most days. Sounds right? Here are our favourite spots where to enjoy a beer in Malta.
