Verdi Budapest Aquincum is seeking a precise, professionally driven, and hands-on finance professional to join our team as Financial Controller / Manager. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the operation, working with detail, and taking ownership of day-to-day financial control while contributing to the hotel’s overall performance.

Purpose of the Role

The Financial Controller / Manager plays an active, hands-on role in managing the hotel’s financial processes, monthly closing, and day-to-day financial control. The position ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial and controlling data, working closely with hotel management and the HQ Finance Team to support informed business decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on preparation and coordination of monthly closing activities, including financial statements and management reports in line with company standards and statutory requirements
  • Direct involvement in day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accuracy of postings, reconciliations, and financial records
  • Supervision, coaching, and practical support of the Accounting Team, with active involvement where required
  • Preparation of audit schedules and documentation, and hands-on coordination with internal and external auditors
  • Detailed analysis of monthly results, including budget versus actual performance, balance sheets, and AR/AP ageing
  • Close collaboration with department heads, providing practical financial guidance and operational insights to improve cost control and profitability
  • Active monitoring of inventory movements between SunCloud and Adaco, verification of forecasts, and allocation of material consumption by cost centre
  • Preparation of general ledger entries, accruals, deferrals, VAT treatment on prepayments, and reconciliation of intercompany transactions

Requirements:

  • Degree in economics, finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Intermediate level of English
  • Strong working knowledge of financial and accounting legislation
  • Practical, solution-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to work closely with hotel management and operational teams
  • Fluency in Hungarian and solid familiarity with Hungarian financial and accounting standards

Advantages

  • Proven hands-on experience in a hotel finance environment with good knowledge of USALI standards
  • Experience using hotel finance systems such as Opera, SUN, EPM, BIQA, Micros Symphony, and Adaco
