It’s often agreed that a four day trip to Malta gives you just about the right amount of time to visit the island’s highlights. In this guide, we’ve crafted the perfect Malta itinerary for 4 days, combining exploration, adventure, cultural insights, and relaxation — ideal for a balanced mini-break.
Day 1: Exploring St. Julians and Sliema
Kick off your 4 days in Malta with a scenic morning walk along the seafront promenade, starting in St Julians. Take in the fresh sea breeze and the relaxed energy of the coast as you make your way along the promenade toward Sliema. Once there, enjoy some time in the city—grab a quick lunch, browse the shops, or simply soak in the atmosphere. Sliema is one of the island’s most cosmopolitan hubs enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
Walk down to the harbour area known as ‘The Ferries’ and look out for the boat shuttle that will take you across the bay to the capital city of Valletta. There’s a minivan service that will drive you up a relatively steep hill to the city centre. Here you can enjoy all that this beautiful city has to offer in terms of history, culture and lifestyle.

Day 2: Adventure in the Skies
Book a micro glider and take on the skies – take my word for this, it’s possibly one of the most exciting things you’re going to be doing in a while. The concept is pretty simple, you and a friend get into two micro gliders and are taken for a 75-minute trial flight over the entire Maltese archipelago. What’s even cooler is that you can borrow a GoPro camera from the reception desk at the Marina Hotel and document your adventure from beginning to end making it a unique souvenir. Freshen up at the hotel and grab a quick lunch before heading back out to the medieval city of Mdina. Known for its high walls and narrow streets, this city takes on an enchanted glimmer at night. Enjoy dinner at one of the several restaurants there and enjoy a casual midnight stroll through its dimly-lit winding paths.
Thinking about visiting our glittering archipelago in the heart of the Med? Holidays are made up of a series of moments, which eventually become memories. We’d like to play our part and invite you to borrow one of our free #GoPro cameras during your stay with us at the Marina hotel – Time to shoot or snap some timeless memories! #Malta #travel #visitmalta @visitmaltauk #lovemalta #bluelagoon #microlight #2015 #goprovideo #videooftheday #beautifuldestinations A video posted by Marina Hotel Corinthia (@discovermarina) on Oct 16, 2015 at 6:26am PDT
Day 3: Road Trip in Cirkewwa
Hit the road right after breakfast and head towards the north of the island to Cirkewwa. Here you’ll be able to catch the ferry to Gozo, Malta’s neighbouring island known for its greener countryside and slower way of life. Visit the highlights that include the Citadella, a fortified city found at the heart of Gozo’s capital Victoria, head down to Ramla il Hamra that literally means ‘red sand’ and has been named so after the high amount of clay deposit in the sand that gives it its distinctive red colour, take a tour to the Ggantija megalithic temples before heading down for a lazy late lunch at Xlendi Bay. The restaurants there are mainly specialised in seafood and are literally perched on the water’s edge. If you’d rather opt for something more authentic, I’d suggest looking up the Maxokk bakery in Nadur that specialises in preparing the Gozitan version of pizza that includes a flat bread base topped with potatoes and fresh Gozitan goat’s cheese.
Head out to Dwejra and the Azure window in the afternoon and witness one of the most picturesque sunsets around the Islands.

Take some time to pamper yourself today and indulge in a massage or a spa treatment at the Apollo Spa, watch TV, read a book, look out onto the Mediterranean or mingle with other guests by participating in one of the Hotel’s activities – today should be all about you. Taking a moment to pause and enjoy the island’s tranquil side is the perfect finale to your trip.
